Ranking is only half the game. Do people actually click your listing when they see it?
Engagement health measures the click-through economics of every Google search result you appear in. Two websites can rank in the exact same position for the exact same query and get wildly different amounts of traffic — because one wrote a title and meta description that made people want to click, and the other left it on autopilot. Engagement is where you convert impressions into actual visits.
Google publishes the position-to-CTR curve openly: the #1 result earns roughly 28–35% of clicks on desktop, dropping to about 15% at #2, 10% at #3, and single digits from #4 onward. Those are averages. Beat the curve by even 2 percentage points and you outperform your ranking. Underperform it — which is astonishingly common on small-business sites — and you're paying the rent to rank without collecting the check. Engagement is often the highest-ROI pillar to fix because the ranking work is already done; you're just leaving clicks on the table.
We grade every title tag for the specific ingredients that lift CTR: numbers, brackets, year, primary keyword position, emotional trigger words, and length. A title like "5 Signs Your Child Needs OT" typically outperforms "Signs Your Child Needs OT" by roughly 30% — just from the number.
Your meta description is the 155-character sales copy sitting underneath your title. We grade it for value proposition clarity, presence of an action verb, use of a call-to-action ("Book a free consult →"), and whether it repeats the search phrase the visitor typed. Most small-business meta descriptions read like resumes when they should read like ads.
Google renders titles in a fixed pixel width (~580 pixels), not a fixed character count. That means "MMMM" takes way more room than "iiii." We simulate exactly how your listing appears on Google and flag any titles or descriptions that get cut off with "…" — that ellipsis is a silent CTR killer.
Once you connect your Google Search Console, we pull your last 90 days of actual clicks, impressions, and average position for every query — then compare your real-world CTR to the industry-average curve for that ranking position. The queries where you underperform your position by the widest margin are your fastest wins: same ranking, better title, immediate traffic lift.
Any business that ranks on page 1 for its target keywords but isn't seeing traffic that matches. Also every business that's spent money on SEO for 12+ months without connecting Search Console — you almost certainly have queries ranking in positions 4–10 with CTRs below the curve, and rewriting those titles is a same-day win.
